The inspiration for the Postal Backpack #1 is the U.S. mailbag from back in the day when the postal bags were hanging on cranes next to the railroads waiting until the train came to take them along.
To make the Postal Backpack #1 we use 2.2mm water resistant vegetable tanned leather. We looked for years to find this perfect leather in terms of density, strength and softness. We finally found it in Italy.
Since than we have been working with our tannery and import the leather ourselves. Which is mad but great, because we can guarantee the highest quality leather possible for the leather back packs and make sure they will keep their shape for generations to come.
Snow, rain and sun will deepen the color of the bag and using it will soften the leather over time.
The hardware is solid brass and of a similar high-end quality. We work with a foundry in England where the hardware is still hand tooled and made in small quantities.
Size of the bag with top down is: 17"- 12"- 3.85".
It’s a lightweight bag, it weighs close to 2.5 pounds.
The postal backpack #1 has a slide-closure to adjust the size of the bag.
Inside the bag is a divider (size fits a 13" macbook pro) & a large pocket (10"-12") with a zipper.
The bag easily fits a 17" laptop in the main compartment. Next to large inside pocket is a key-hook where you can attach your keys.
On the back panel is a pocket with zipper for safety and easy access to your wallet or phone. (size Iphone 6+).
Our bags are hand cut, crafted and designed at our studio in the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
